BASN Metalen 4 Drivers HiFi (2DD+2BA) In-Ear Monitor Headphones (Green)

I have several sets of multi-driver IEMs ranging from budget to premium, but I wanted to try the BASN Metalen because I didn't have any with the 2DD/2BA configuration. I chose green because I also don't own any green IEMs, but unfortunately, I received the blue version in a box labeled "green." I almost returned them without even unboxing them... That would have been an unfortunate mistake on my part.

These things are outstanding. From the very first minute of listening, their sound was full and engaging. I was hooked. After my first listening session, I opted to let them burn-in for 100-hours because I wouldn't have time to use them again for a few days, anyway. In this case, burning them in didn't change the sound at all -- but that's ok, it didn't need to.

The IEMs themselves feel and sound premium, but at this price point, cost cutting must happen somewhere. Even the included carrying case is better than what some more expensive options provide, so BASN opted to go cheap on the cables -- to be fair, the IEMs sound great with them, but they just feel cheap and are prone to tangling. Swapping for some higher-end MMCX cables didn't benefit the sound, so I went back to the originals.

Detail retrieval is very good, and the IEMs provide competent instrument separation even on very busy tracks. Soundstage is a little wider than I would have expected, particularly for the price. Highs are nice and bright but never piercing or fatiguing. Lows are pleasantly present but not overbearing, yet hit hard when the track calls for it. Vocals sound great in general, but I find these particularly engaging when listening to female vocals.

I got the Metalens eight months ago, but just recently decided to "upgrade" them to wireless with my FiiO UTWS5 MMCX earhooks after using them exclusively with my 7HZ Timeless for over a year. With the UTWS5, the Metalens lose nothing over a wired connection, and gain EQ adjustments from the FiiO app, although I ultimately settled for a flat profile because I like their sound as-is. If you're interested in this product combination, the UTWS5 have power to spare to properly drive the Metalens, and I find myself listening to them at 40-45% volume, because going any higher still sounds great, but it becomes too loud and painful for me. If you like listening to music at irresponsibly-high levels, this combination will let you.

I try to alternate between my IEMs frequently, and the biggest compliment I can pay to the Metalens is that I often reach for them instead of others three times their price. There are some good budget IEMs out there that I would only recommend to people without high-end gear, but in the case of the Metalens, I think you'll enjoy them no matter what the rest of your collection looks like.

Fit great and feel great. Sound quality is there and these are now strictly my stage set.

I’m very happy with my purchase. I normally wear hearing aids so using IEMs can be a problem because of hearing loss with certain frequencies. I didn’t like the ones that came with the receiver so bought another $30 pair. Still did not sound much better than ones that came with the receiver. Low bass response, highs lacked definition. These seem much better. I haven’t had a chance to use them live yet, but just listening with them on you tube is so much easier to get the clear, clean bass notes and crisp highs. If any issues using live, I’ll update.
Update: Used them at practice recently and started off having to fix a setting on the mixer as everyone's IEM was being overdriven (even overdriven I still could get better sound than with my old ones). Once that issue was resolved, mine sounded great. My bass had real definition instead of just a thump, voices were clear and using the foam earpieces, the noice cancelling was pretty good-my location in the band puts me next to the bass amp and in front of the keyboardist'e and lead guitarist's amps. Hardly heard them except thru these IEMs. If they quit after the warranty period, I'll buy another set. For my ears, with my hearing loss of certain frequencies, these are wonderful.

I've got A LOT of various wired and wireless headphones/earbuds/IEM. It's getting more and more difficult to differentiate between the IEM in this price range. First, I am a fan of BASN products. All of their IEM I've tried are tuned to my preference. They sound great with or without EQ. IMO, they are neutral, but they have the capability to accurately recreate the lowest frequencies with crystal clarity. There is no frequency range that seems boosted or artificial.
They are also very comfortable. I can wear these for hours and not even realize the time has passed.
I'm not going to take time to type out all the various accessories because there are pics and you have eyes. Just know that all your accessory needs are covered by BASN. I've opened IEMs that cost twice as much as these BASN Metalen 4, and I have been very underwhelmed, especially when I now have these for comparison. They present like a premium product because in my opinion, the MEtalen 4 are definitely a premium product. From the packaging, accessories, materials, and definitely sound, these are premium. You can't find a bigger or better bang for your hard earned buck.

There's 2 cables in the box, one braided and one not but has an inline microphone + 3 buttons and TRRS connector. I hooked up the braided one to the IEMs. At the end of the braided cable at the IEM side there is a black section that can has something akin to a paperclip inside so it can be bent and will hold shape. I wore the IEMs hooking over the top of the ear and bent the ends around the back of my ear. Absolutely staggering feature.

The sound is really good. I hooked it up to my Schiit Stack (Magni Modi) and gave it The Tour which includes several genres like Bossa Nova, Glitch Hop, and Progressive Metal. The response is rather flat with a tinge of increased bass. For an IEM the sound stage is slightly more wide than other IEMs I've used.

There's lots of ear tips inside the included case. I used the ones already attached and they fit great. The foam ones will probably close the sound stage in a little more. There is even a little cleaning brush included to clean them out. Foam tips tend to get icky after some time. Clean 'em!
